New Delhi : In a spectacular confluence of heritage and holistic well-being, 81 iconic monuments under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) played host to mass yoga sessions on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, celebrated nationwide with immense fervor. These sessions were held in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, bringing together culture, history, and wellness in an unforgettable celebration.
The central event was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where he highlighted yoga’s unifying power. “Yoga is for everyone—beyond boundaries, backgrounds, age, or ability,” he said. “Let this Yoga Day mark the beginning of Yoga for Humanity 2.0, where inner peace becomes global policy.”
This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” underscores India’s global leadership in promoting mindful living, environmental harmony, and physical and mental well-being.

From Adalaj Ki Vav in Gujarat to the Sun Temple in Konark, the day saw thousands of yoga enthusiasts of all ages practicing asanas amid some of India’s most treasured cultural landmarks. The rich heritage settings added depth and gravitas to the celebration of this ancient wellness tradition.
Prominent Union Ministers also participated in the yoga celebrations at various heritage sites:

-
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Culture and Tourism, joined the session at Mehrangarh Fort, Rajasthan.
-
Manohar Lal Khattar, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, practiced yoga at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
-
Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, led the celebrations at the Pattadakal Group of Monuments in Karnataka.
Their presence underscored the significance of yoga not just as a personal discipline, but as a national movement fostering unity, cultural pride, and wellness.
All 81 ASI locations live-streamed the Prime Minister’s event, allowing participants across the nation to follow along in perfect synchrony.
This year’s celebration reaffirmed yoga’s status as India’s timeless gift to humanity, seamlessly blending the nation’s glorious past with its modern vision for health and harmony.
